Register for Troop Planning Campout

Time to register for the Troop Leadership Planning and Training Conference is NOW! Get your name on the list so your leaders can plan accordingly. The event starts at 5p, Friday, Feb 17th through 5p, Saturday Feb, 18th. We will camp on the grounds at COOS Friday night and have a full day of fun activities on Saturday.

Troop Planning Campout

Our troop is having a Leadership Planning and Training Conference starting at 5p, Friday, Feb 17th through 5p, Saturday Feb, 18th. We will camp Friday night on the grounds at COOS.

The goal of the event is to plan our troop’s activities for the balance of 2012 and into 2013. We need everyone to attend so you can share your ideas on where to go camping and the kinds of activities you would like to see. In addition to the planning, we have a number of fun activities planned – and will even squeeze in some leadership training.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED

God & Family is Friday, Jan 20, 6p through Saturday, Jan 21, 8p at Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church. Off Greenland Rd near Philips Hwy (map).

Any scout (13 and up) can stop by any time to help. You will earn service hours as you assist with games, mentoring cub scouts or serving food. Your help is much appreciated, especially with the games that start around 10a on Saturday.

Winter Court of Honor

Poinsettia Issue

Someone called the nursery to have four (4) plants replaced. The number they left is a fax machine and their message states that they live “by the Avenues Mall” and purchased from “Group 110.” The nursery will replace the plants but they need more information. Please contact Mr. Walsh if you know who this is.

For future reference, ALL replacements MUST go through the troop. The nursery is a wholesaler and does not deal directly with the public. Please do not give nursery information to anyone we need to handle these type of issues.

Services for John Batten

Services for John Batten (Senior) is Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 10am at the Jacksonville National Cemetery (MAP).

The family requested someone to stand in for a brief service at the cemetery (such short notice, no pastor available, yet). Please contact Mr. Walsh if you are available.

Registrations Are Due

Poinsettia Orders Due

Poinsettia orders are due to on Monday (11/21) evening (even though no meeting). Mr. Walsh will be at COOS to collect your money and order forms.

BSA / North Florida Council Email Request

Scouts/Scouters BSA and NFC are requesting email addresses of all members of scouting. This is an effort for them to survey and stay in touch with the membership, no more than once a month. Please read the official communication HERE.

You have likely already supplied your email address on your applications and this is simply an easy way for them to collect current addresses. Mr. Walsh is putting together a list of our membership to sent to BSA/NFC. Please email Mr. Walsh if you do NOT want your email address included in the list.

Troop & OA Election

Flag Pole Dedication

A Scout with Troop 101 erected a new flag pole at Christ’s Church. The dedication of the pole and a flag retirement ceremony on is taking place on Veterans Day. They invited anyone from Troop 110. If you are interested in attending the schedule is as follows:

4:40 pm – Arrival Time
5:00 pm – Ceremony Start (approx)
5:30 pm – Flag Retirement Ceremony and Hot Dogs at Fire Pit
8:00 pm – End Time (approx)

Sad Day

Sadly, one of our scouts lost a parent this past week. John Batten Jr’s father passed away. As of this posting arrangements are undecided. Mr. Walsh is our troop’s point of contact with John’s family. Please direct all inquiries to Mr. Walsh.

A few people are needed to help John Jr. collect personal items from his father’s place. This is at 1p on Wed. Oct. 26, 2011, at 6834 Brandemere Road, South (map).

The troop will begin “take a meal” services in a couple days. Please stay tuned…

Grant B. Eagle Project Workday
