Winter Court of Honor

The Winter Court of Honor is Mon, Dec. 13. Bring a dessert to share. Let’s enjoy our final meeting of the year with family, friends, scouts and good ole’ fellowship!

We will recognize scouts and scouters who recently earned merit and advancement.

AND – not to be missed – the Order of the Arrow Call-Out will take place during a special ceremony conducted by our own OA members.

We hope to see you there!

Troop 110 Leader Receives National Award

The next time you see Mr. Smith give him a hearty Boy Scout handshake.

Mr. Smith recently received the 2009 John Wesley Powell Award from the U.S. Geological Survey. He received this award for helping to create the first national mapping, hazard reduction, and resource conservation program for wildfires. Mr. Smith was the Project Manager for this program called LANDFIRE which cost $41 million and took five years to complete.

Incredible Eagle Project

CNN HEROS Story:
  • Alex Griffith, 16, was adopted as a sickly baby from a Russian hospital
  • To give back to his birthplace, he raised $60,000 to build a new playground
  • The project was part of Griffith’s quest to become an Eagle Scout

Eagle Continues to Soar

Beau Wittmer keeps achieving stellar heights – In addition to earning Eagle, Beau is also school Valedictorian and got a perfect score on a National Latin Exam.

Excerpt from Episcopal High School’s Website…
“Valedictorian Earns Perfect Score on National Latin Exam - Posted May 14, 2009 - Episcopal’s valedictorian, Beau Wittmer ’09, has achieved a perfect score on the 2009 National Latin Exam. Less than one percent of students who took the exam earned a perfect score … Beau has attended Episcopal for six years, and has plans to attend Yale University in the fall.”

AQUATICS CAMP 2009

Aquatics Camp at Camp Echockotee in Orange Park is a nationally accredited program, open to all youth ages 6-14. Each week campers choose from over 30 activities including: Archery Range, Arts & Crafts, BB Gun Range, Canoeing, Fishing, Space Exploration, Swimming, Wakeboarding and MUCH MORE!

Our Scoutmaster is One Incredible Dude

Mr. Walsh recently took on the big challenge of completing Wood Badge training.  Wood Badge is Scouting’s premier training for leaders  Mr. Walsh receives his Wood Badge Beads in a special ceremony on Monday March 2.  He will not be at our meeting.  The next time you see him be sure to give him a BIG Scout Handshake and congratulate him!

Personal Management MB

A Personal Management session was originally scheduled for March 2.  This is postponed because Mrs. Walsh wants to see Mr. Walsh receive his Wood Badge beads.  We will let you know when she will be back.

2008 Summer Camp

What a huge success!  The week was packed with memories we will carry the rest of our lives. Woodruff Scout Reservation was a great location. Other than a few hiccups, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our expectations were exceeded and we had a great week.
