Eagle Announcement – John Garner

Eagle Scout John Garner will forever remember November 24th, 2013 as the day he reached the ultimate goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. His hard work and efforts are a great example for all of our younger scouts to follow. Please take the opportunity to congratulate him on his achievement!

2013 Summer Camp Update 1

Mr. Dealing phoned to let us know that everyone arrived at Camp Shands in one piece. After spending the day at Juniper Springs, everyone is great and no visits to medical facility, yet.

He also said they have a fantastic campsite with new cots, new tents and new screen enclosures. Everything about the updated Camp Shands is wonderful!

Richie M. Eagle Project Work Day

Richie needs your help! The workday for his Eagle project is Saturday, June 29th from 9a to 12p.

The work takes place in the Springfield neighborhood. This is the neighborhood his great-grandparents moved to from Lebanon and raised his grandmother along with her four siblings. They owned a store in this area called “Deb’s Store.” As a tribute to them, the work crew will place reflectors on the streets they once walked.

Placing  street reflectors next to fire hydrants is needed for firefighters to spot the hydrants in an emergency, especially in neighborhoods with many old, wood-framed homes. 

While this is a simple project, it requires multiple positions for each crew. Each crew needs an adult to keep Scouts safe, a traffic controller, a cleaner/placer and an adult driver (about 3-4 people for each vehicle). The more people who help, the faster the project will go. Any and all help from Scouts, parents, family and friends is greatly appreciated! Water and snacks are provided.

We will acknowledge Ranks Earned and award some Merit Badges. We will also hear about our recent canoe trip and our plans for summer camp.

2013 Summer Camp Payment & Registration

Summer Camp payments and registrations is due NOW.
If you have not completed your registrations you need to contact Mr. Leonard or Mr. Dealing ASAP.
IMPORTANT!  –  ALL Scouts need to have updated BSA Health Forms to attend Summer Camp. This includes physician approval. You will not be allowed to attend if you have not completed this important task. Make the necessary arrangements to get this completed ASAP!

Camporee Rescheduled

The North Florida Council Camporee originally scheduled for May 3 – 5, 2013 has been rescheduled for September 6 – 8, 2013 at Kenyon Farm 6698 Sharron Road Green Cove Springs, FL.

The Awesome Action and Adventure will still be a part of this event with zip lines, tomahawk throwing, knife throwing, climbing wall, 3D archery, a rock show and MORE!!  Our goal is to offer program not often available in a troop or district setting. Check often at www.nfccamporee.org for updates on even more exciting programs.

Camporee Postponed

Due to the extensive wet weather experienced over the last 48 hours the Camporee is postponed. 
The dirt road to the site is impassable and lack of access to the property presents a health and safety risk to participants.

The camporee will be re-scheduled for a date in the fall. Fees paid for this weekend’s event will be held and applied for the rescheduled event.
