Summer Camp Challenge
April 24th, 2009 by Troop110

Mr. Garner challenges YOU, TROOP 110, to earn the Honor Troop Award. See page 40-41 of the Raven Knob Leaders Guide. Merit Troop Award is certainly do-able, but TROOP 110 looks for the higher goals! Everybody has to play a part in order to make this happen!

I challenge YOU, adult leaders of TROOP 110, to earn the Scoutmaster Merit Badge. See page 32 of the Raven Knob Leaders Guide. This one is challenging, and the result will be a better Summer Camp experience for all the Scouts and Scouters that week.

I challenge YOU, TROOP 110, to act as color guard at at least one breakfast or dinner assembly!

I challenge YOU, TROOP 110, to plan and conduct at least one Troop Campfire program, with skits, songs, stories and all that goes with it! Each program should be conducted by a Scout needing to meet that requirement for the Communications MB.

I challenge YOU, TROOP 110, to have at least one Cracker Barrel, including at least one other unit as your guest.

To paraphrase what President Kennedy said about other challenges, “We choose to [to do these things], not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.”

… or George S. Patton: “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.”

… or Henry David Thoreau: “In the long run, you only hit what you aim at.”
